Fungus is the pre-condition to dry rot in wood members. It is simply a living plant such as a mushroom that feeds on wood and thrives in high moisture areas with warm air. As long as there is a consistent moisture source most wood surfaces will start developing fungus infections. Once the fungus growth has established in part of the area if will dry out with no moisture but as soon as it gets wet again it will continue to spread and feed on the wood. Every fungus infection will bloom and release spores into the air. The airborne spores will eventually settle on different surfaces and if there is wood and moisture source a new area of infection will start germinating. Here at Rot Repair we have extensive experience and deep understanding on how to identify, treat and repair wood damaged by fungus.
